The Library Home Service provides items from the library to your door free.
If you are housebound for medical reasons – such as a recent operation, or if mobility problems mean that you can’t get to the library, you can take advantage of this service.
There is no charge for reserving an item.
You will need to download the Libby app. Set up is straightforward and you will need your library card number. Once it is set up, opening Libby will take you to the eBook collection. You can search, browse check out, renew and reserve eBooks and eAudiobooks. If you need help from staff, please ask.
Unfortunately, Kindle eReaders are not compatible with library eBooks due to their proprietary software. You can download our e-books onto almost any other device.
Talk to one of the library staff so we can arrange a replacement for the lost book. A fee will be charged to your account.
Most members can borrow up to 100 items at any one time. Temporary memberships have a lower borrowing limit.
The standard borrowing time for books is three weeks but some items have different borrowing periods.
For Bestseller books and all DVDs: ten days.
For Bestseller Magazines and all CDs: one week.
Yes, you can. You can request a purchase when logged in to your own library account or you can ask a member of staff to place the request for you. We will let you know if we are able to purchase the requested item.
You can renew items when logged into My Account or by calling 06 349 1000. Items can be renewed three times before they must be returned (though you can then check them out again).
Please note that when renewing rental items such as DVDs and bestseller books and magazines, the rental charge will be payable again.
Note also that you can’t renew an item if another library member has placed a reserve on it.
All items are free to borrow except DVDs, CDs and bestseller books and magazines. See fees & charges.
