What we offer

Whanganui’s public libraries are freely open to everyone. We have more than 100,000 books, magazines and DVDs together with a host of eBooks and eMagazines for you to enjoy; free unlimited wifi; and free-to-use desktop computers.

We run holiday programmes and events throughout the year for children and families.

We look after our community’s memories and enable people to discover and connect with their own and their community’s stories.

We run the Davis Library and the Alexander Library in Pukenamu Queens Park; Gonville Library at 44 Abbot Street; Hakeke Street Library at 65 Hakeke Street; Rangiora Street Library at 10 Rangiora Street; Aramoho Library at 2 Mitchell Street; and the Suzanne Aubert Library at Jerusalem.

In addition our mobile library visits schools and rest homes, and services suburban and rural communities; and the Library Home Service brings the library to those who can’t get out to our venues.

We have venues for hire in Pukenamu Queens Park and at Gonville Library.

If you’re feeling thirsty, at the Davis and Gonville libraries you can grab a coffee to drink while you’re browsing, reading, studying or just chilling out.
