The Alexander Heritage and Research Library holds the local newspapers on microfilm and as bound volumes.

The library holds copies of some suburban newspapers including the Aramoho News, Wanganui East News, Aramoho & East News and Gonville News for the period from 1962 – 1966.
Copies of articles from the newspapers can be printed for $1.00 per page (A4 or A3) or downloaded to a USB drive.
Pages can also be supplied as pdf files emailed directly to you, please contact us for this service.
The Wanganui Subject Index contains items indexed from local newspapers including the Wanganui Herald and the Wanganui Chronicle and the weekly newspapers, Weekly Herald/Yeoman, the Wanganui Midweek and River City Press. Entries from some published articles and local history books have been included.
The index concentrates on the Whanganui region but includes some items from Patea, Waimarino, Taihape, Hunterville, Marton and Bulls. The index covers the period from 1840 to 2002.
From 2003 onwards local information has been indexed onto a computer database. Please ask a staff member to access this database for you.
